Melanie Jennings earned an MFA from Mills College and
a doctorate in American Literature from UC San Diego.
Her fiction has appeared in
numerous publications
including
Crab Orchard Review, Crab Creek Review,
Redwood Coast Review,
and Oregon Literary Review.
In 2006, her short story, "Spec of Love," won the
Ooligan Press Editor's Choice Award. Her poetry has
appeared in
In the Grove and the Texas Poetry
Calendar 2004
, and her freelance writing in Dagger,
Willamette Week, Writers Monthly, and ChickLit.

She lives in Portland, Oregon with her
husband,
parakeet, and mini-Poodle-mix.
Melanie has been awarded fellowships from the
Espy Foundation, Jentel, and the Community of
Writers at Squaw Valley.
